Painting with James Tennison

Robinhood bay, England
Robinhood's Bay, England

Over a 3 day period, I painted with James Tennison in Fort Worth Texas. I chose a scene from RobinHood’s Bay in England and created this oil on canvas. Starting with a line drawing in brown oil and Turpenoid, I used a Mahl stick to layout the horizon line, cliffs, town and foreground elements. Then with careful brush strokes, laid in the sky, clouds, distant cliffs, town and path in the foreground. Thin to thick, with some palette knife toward the end in the foreground.
